About Me

Cory was born in Atlanta, GA in the 1970s. He was always involved in athletics including baseball, football, and basketball. By the time college rolled around, he had focused on baseball but only played freshman year at Oglethorpe University. After transferring to The University of Georgia during Cory's sophomore year, he decided to get a degree in business and computers because jobs were plentiful. Upon graduation, however, he pledged to himself to never again return to school after having built up resentment for laboring through such boring and unfulfilling material that was required to get through his studies.
Having spent his twenties as a traveling computer consultant, and feeling miserable about his life, Cory happened upon a self help program entitled The Power of Intention by Dr. Wayne Dyer. This program was the beginning of his spiritual journey, and changed his life. He began reading many of the books mentioned in the program, but became most intrigued by the author Carlos Castaneda. Alas, Cory developed a love for reading, meditation, and people. Shortly after, in 2010, he began pursuing a counseling degree because he realized the power of one's beliefs, thoughts, and behaviors.
Cory has lived in Forsyth County since 2001 and has been a Georgia resident since the 1980s. After earning a Master of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Mercer University in 2013, he completed an internship at New Hope Counseling. Working at New Hope Counseling, an alcohol and drug treatment facility, for nearly three years allowed Cory to gain experience working with people struggling against chemical addictions, domestic violence (men and women), helping parolee's transition back into civilization, and couples counseling. He now works at his private practice where heals trauma for people suffering from a variety of ailments or symptoms.
Cory is a certified Tensegrity Facilitator. He has been practicing Tensegrity for 8 years for physical and spiritual well-being. He became intrigued after discovering that the movements from the Intent Series Form mitigated his back and hip pain. This after being prescribed pain pills by a family physician and after completing months of physical therapy prescribed by his physician from the Emory Spine Center in Atlanta, GA. With a background in Tensegrity, Cory has begun to incorporate principles from Somatic Experiencing into his clinical work. This has been a natural and seamless integration and the results have been nothing short of miraculous. Cory is eternally grateful for Peter Levine's and Stephen Porges's contributions.
